History Limousine

Island Limos provides information on the limousines and the luxurious form of transport that they provide.
A limousine (or limo) is a longer than usual luxury car. Although they are traditionally black in color, they are often white these days. It is often the case that limousines are owned by wealthy individuals. However the majority of limos operate as livery vehicles, providing upmarket competition to taxicabs. They allow for middle class, everyday people to arrive in style to various venues for a very reasonable price in a long sleek car that is driven by a chauffeur.
Limousine styles
There are a few separate types of limousine and many different manufacturers. Generally, a limousine will have a division between the driver's compartment and that of the rear passenger. There will be a sliding glass window to allow for private conversations between passengers in the rear compartment being kept private from the chauffeur. The following are the three types of limousine styles.
Traditional
This limousine is an extension of a large sedan. A longer frame allows for a substantial amount of foot room and space for forward facing passengers. There are often two seats facing rearward behind the chauffeur that can be folded up when not in use. These limos can fit five people in the back and two in the front compartment without including the driver. Newer limo however, do not feature a seating arrangement like this as stretch limousines are used to transport more than three passengers.
Stretch
These are the most modern limousines and are extended in length far more than is required for personal use. These are very popular in transporting to and from events such as dances and weddings. This allows them to turn up in style and sets them off on a good night. Rather than the traditional transverse seating arrangement, these will have benches on one or both, running the length of the car. This allows the travellers to face one another and have a social conversation.
Stretch limos often deviate from the original style and can be found in white as oppose to the typical black appearance.
Stage
this is another type of vehicle modified for multiple passengers use. These are not thought of as true limos as a stage appears more like a cross between a sedan and a bus. It is short but tall with multiple doors that allow access to the forward facing transverse seats.

Manufacturers of Limousines
There are many different types of limousine manufacturers. Generally, car companies perform aftermarket extensions on luxury sedans and SUVs. These limousine conversations are usually performed on the following brands:

AUDI Q7

Chrysler (Baby Bentley) Limos

BMW X5 E70
